Sewing machines are quite desirable for many collectors. They can still be used to sew but many people prefer to use them as desks or tables. This sewing machine has two little drawers once used to hide away needle and thread. Nowadays, one might decide to put their pens and pencils away.

Arts and Crafts

This little box could have once been a snuff-box. It's silver and marked with the number 800 on the bottom. There are also two, small, red coral stones. The artist put a lot of work in to it and it's easy to notice how much detail has gone in to this dainty little object. I think it's a stunning work of art!

I bought this beautiful, brass candlestick a few years ago at a market in Poland. The hallmark says tamar. 

Vintage ballerina brooch

This is a vintage ballerina brooch which is similar to the boucher ballerina brooches. The delicate brooch has green and white crystals on the dress.   

 

 

a bit of Art Nouveau in Liberec, Czech Republic

Liberec is a lovely city in the Czech Republic. I went there to have a look at their famous botanical garden but to my surprise I noticed some fabulous houses. Amazing!!!

A little bit of Japan in Wrocław...

Art Nouveau was influenced by Japanese art. Artist appreciated its reference to nature and organic forms.  In Wroclaw there is also a place inspired by Japan. The Japanese Garden in Wroclaw (Ogród Japoński we Wrocławiu) was designed during 1909-1912. Fritz Von Hochberg who spent many years in Japan was the initiator of the project. A Japanese gardener, Mankichi Arai designed the garden. Although since 1912 the garden has completely changed it is still worth visiting.
